Your deck may not need to be completely rebuilt just because it looks old or worn. We assess what can reasonably stay, what needs to be repaired or replaced, and whether re-decking or a partial rebuild can give your existing deck more useful life.

Ways We Can Restore Your Existing Deck

RESTORATION OPTIONS
Tell Us About Your Project

Re-Decking

Replace worn or deteriorated deck boards while keeping the existing framing when it is still suitable for reuse. A good option when the surface is failing but a complete rebuild may not be necessary.

Partial Deck Rebuild

Rebuild the sections that can no longer be reasonably repaired while preserving portions of the existing deck that are still in usable condition.

Structural Repairs

Repair or replace deteriorated framing, posts, supports, stairs, or other structural components so the parts worth preserving can remain part of the restored deck.

DECK & RAILING UPDATES

Update worn decking, stairs, railings, or other visible components to improve how the deck looks, feels, and functions without automatically rebuilding the entire structure.

WOOD-TO-COMPOSITE RE-DECKING

Replace aging wood decking with composite while keeping suitable portions of the existing structure. We first evaluate whether the framing is appropriate for the new decking system.

our Approach to Deck Restoraton

OUR PROCESS

1

WE START WITH WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE

We look at the condition of the existing deck to understand which parts may be worth preserving and which areas need attention.

2

WE LOOK BEYOND THE SURFACE

Worn deck boards don’t always mean the entire deck needs to be rebuilt. We consider the framing, supports, connections, stairs, railings, and other relevant components before recommending a restoration approach.

3

WE EXPLAIN THE OPTIONS

Depending on what we find, the right solution may be re-decking, targeted structural repairs, a partial rebuild, or complete replacement. We explain what makes sense and why.

4

YOU KNOW THE SCOPE BEFORE WORK BEGINS

You’ll understand what we plan to keep, what we recommend replacing, and the scope of the restoration before the project moves forward.

QUESTIONS HOMEOWNERS ASK ABOUT RESTORING AN OLDER DECK

FAQ

CAN MY OLD DECK BE RESTORED INSTEAD OF COMPLETELY REBUILT?

Possibly. Age alone doesn’t determine whether a deck needs to be replaced. The condition of the framing, supports, connections, stairs, and other components helps determine whether restoration is a reasonable option.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DECK REPAIR AND DECK RESTORATION?

Deck repair usually addresses a specific damaged area or component. Restoration is broader and may combine repairs, re-decking, component replacement, and partial rebuilding to improve an aging deck while preserving portions that are still suitable for use.

CAN YOU REPLACE THE DECK BOARDS WITHOUT REBUILDING THE FRAME?

Yes, when the existing framing is in suitable condition. Before re-decking, we evaluate the structure to determine whether it can reasonably support the new decking or whether repairs are needed first.

CAN I REPLACE MY OLD WOOD DECKING WITH COMPOSITE?

Often, yes. If the existing structure is suitable, wood decking can be replaced with composite. We evaluate the framing and layout first rather than assuming the existing structure should automatically be reused.

WHAT IF YOU FIND HIDDEN DAMAGE AFTER THE OLD DECKING IS REMOVED?

Some deterioration can only become visible after existing materials are removed. If we uncover additional damage, we explain what we found and discuss any necessary change in scope before additional work moves forward.

WHEN DOES RESTORATION STOP MAKING SENSE?

If deterioration affects too much of the structure, preserving the existing deck may no longer be the most practical investment. In that case, we’ll explain why a larger rebuild may make more sense than continuing to replace individual sections.

How Estimates Work
For Smaller Projects:
In many cases, we can review your photos and project details remotely and provide an initial estimate without an on-site visit.
For Larger Projects:
For larger, more complex, or structural projects, we'll schedule a visit to your property to assess the deck, discuss your goals, and determine the scope of work.
